My family has been vacationing to Kiawah Island (off Charleston) for a long time. We love it there--it's quiet, private, and beautiful! We've rented the same house for the past 26 years! While we've loved our time at that house, it hasn't changed much in those 26 years. Since it's almost the all of my dad's side of the family, we've also started to outgrow the outdated house. Here's our nice, one-story house, right on the beach:
Our deck and beach in the back
Most all the houses in the area have been remodeled, rebuilt, and re-sized to be bigger and better! Even though we love our house, it's now the shack on the street. Seriously. Take a look at some of these other houses (sorry for the crookedness, I took them on a bike ride)...
See what I mean?
We have had great memories in that house. We love Kiawah Island and have lots of traditions when we go there. But for a couple of reasons, we're looking to relocate our vacation spot. We would love to stay on Kiawah, but it's pretty pricey there. We've gotten a good deal on our small, lovely shack and can't really afford the bigger and better houses in that area.
We've been trying to think of new places to look to rent. We all love how Kiawah is low-key and doesn't have a busy beach. We would need at least 4-5 bedrooms, preferably not many stairs, and we would love a pool, if possible! We're open to a house or two condos next to each other.
So far we've been looking at places like St. George Island, Sea Grove, and Hilton Head. Know of a good place? Any ideas or suggestions??
We went to Seaside with friends 2 years ago and rented a 5 bedroom house. It has a pool and was across the street from the beach...so not on the water, but close enough. It was perfect and not too expensive!
ReplyDeletethis house has so many childhood memories for me,i was an honorary beach goer a few summers!
ReplyDeletemy family tried the outer banks last summer and we loved it! it's pretty remote and underdeveloped, but there are a lot of great things to do. downfall, it's really difficult to get to the outer banks...
